Biography
The first player from Japan to win the Masters Tournament, this young man was born on February 25, 1992, in Ehime, Japan. This Japanese national began playing golf when he was just four years old. It was none other than his father who introduced him to the sport. He attended the Meitoku Gijuku Junior & Senior High School before going on to study at the Tohoku Fukushi University in Sendai. The lowest scoring amateur at the 2011 Masters Tournament, he gained entry into the prestigious competition by winning the 2010 Asian Amateur Championship. The man from Ehime went pro in 2013 and joined the PGA Tour immediately.
The Memorial Tournament of the 2013-14 season was his first PGA Tour win ever. Although he had established himself in Japan by winning eight tournaments beginning in 2011, the PGA Tour turned out to be a challenge for this man. His second win came at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in the 2015-16 season. The youngster successfully defended this title n the 2016-17 season and also won the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational and the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions that year.
