Majoring in General Studies at university, he chose to pursue football despite being drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 19th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft. Representing Ole Miss from 2016 to 2018, he played 36 games for them and registered 2,984 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. He was selected in Round 2 of the 2019 NFL Draft after making himself available. The Tennessee Titans picked him up and gave him his debut in the season opener against the Cleveland Browns.
