Player Bio

Born in Smederevo, FR Yugoslavia, on 16 September 1994, Mitro is a product of Serbian club Partizan’s youth system. After a short loan spell with Teleoptik, the dreams of 18 year old Mitro came true as his debut season with boyhood club Partizan saw them crowned the Serbian SuperLiga champions. The striker would go on to feature 42 times for Partizan before Belgian club Anderlecht paid a club record fee of €5 million to secure the teenagers services. The big Serb would not disappoint, finding the back of the net 44 times in 90 appearances, helping Anderlecht to the Belgian Pro League title and the Belgian Super Cup in his two seasons at the club finishing as top scorer on both occasions. Premier League club Newcastle United paid £13 million in the summer of 2015 to tie the striker to a five-year contract. In stark contrast to all the success that followed prior, Mitro’s career was off to a rocky start at Tyneside; the striker was sent off in his second game for the club and his debut goal coming in a 6-1 hammering at the hands of Manchester City; the season would end in collective failure as The Magpies were relegated to the EFL Championship. Further disciplinary issues would see the big Serb fall out of favour at the club leading to a loan spell at EFL Championship club Fulham. Mitro would take full advantage of the move scoring 12 goals in 17 appearances, Fulham would secure promotion via playoffs to close out the season. In the following summer Mitro joined Fulham on a permanent transfer recapturing his prolific form. Mitro has played in 57 competitive games for Serbia and scored 35 goals. The striker finished top scorer in the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League, and was named 2018 Serbian Player of the Year.
