Crony, to some, and Big Fella to others, is a First baseman / Designated hitter for the Colorado Rockies in Major League Baseball. Born in Fullerton, California, on January 5, 1990, he graduated from Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2008. This Big Fella attended the University of Utah and played college baseball for the Utah Utes. Crony was picked 17th overall in the first round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Angels. That year, he made his professional debut with the Pioneer League's Rookie-level Orem Owlz. He's also played for the Inland Empire 66ers of the California League's Class A-Advanced, the Arkansas Travelers of the Texas League's Class AA, and the Salt Lake Bees of the Pacific Coast League's Class AAA. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim gave him his MLB debut on May 3, 2014, against the Texas Rangers. Crony was transferred to the Tampa Bay Rays on February 17, 2018. He was then claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Twins a few months later. Another year later, he signed a one-year, $6.1 million contract with the Detroit Tigers. This was followed by a minor league contract with the Colorado Rockies on February 15, 2021. Crony signed a two-year, $14.5 million agreement with the Rockies on October 5, 2021. As of writing, he is still tied to them.
