Player Bio
Burnesy was born on October 22, 1994, in Bakersfield, California, and is the winner of the National League Cy Young Award in 2021. Before attending Saint Mary's College of California to play college baseball, this pitcher attended Centennial High School in Bakersfield, California. This young man made his professional debut with the Arizona League Brewers before being promoted to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Even before graduating from college, the pitcher was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. On July 8, 2018, he was promoted to the main leagues for the first time, and on July 10, he made his major league debut. Burnesy has played for the Carolina Mudcats before being traded to the Biloxi Shuckers in 2017. He started the 2018 season with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox before making it big. So far, the Milwaukee Brewers have been his only MLB team. Known for his powerful cut fastball or cutter, this pitcher was the MLB ERA leader in 2021 with the most consecutive strikeouts without issuing a walk to begin a season. That year, he was also named to the All-Star and All-MLB First Teams.
