Player Bio
Pito is a Major League Baseball first baseman and designated hitter for the Chicago White Sox. He was born in Cruces, Cienfuegos, Cuba, on January 29, 1987. Standing at 6'3", this young man is a right-handed batter who also uses the right arm to throw. Whilst not a lot is known about his childhood, we do know that this Cuban began playing professionally in the Cuban Serie Nacional. A three-time All-Star, this player took part in the 2009 Baseball World Cup for Cuba. Things were going pretty smoothly for this young man, but the allure of playing in the MLB saw him defect to the USA in August 2013. After selecting Haiti as his buffer, Pito, with the help of a former teammate, got in touch with scouts from the MLB. He signed a six-year, $68 million contract with the Chicago White Sox in October of that year. Pito got his MLB debut on the 31st of March 2014 against the Minnesota Twins. A three-time Silver Slugger Award winner, he has been with the White Sox throughout his career.
