Player Bio
Tuve is a Major League Baseball second baseman for the Houston Astros. He was born in Maracay, Venezuela, on May 6, 1990. He met Salvador Pérez when he was seven years old, and the two of them competed together. In Maracay, this Venezuelan attended a Houston Astros tryout camp. The team's scouts refused to let him play because he was too short, and they felt he had lied about his age. After all was said and done, the club evaluated him. He impressed team executives, following which he was signed as an undrafted free agent on March 6, 2007, with a $15,000 bonus. This player relocated to the United States and joined the Rookie-level Appalachian League's Greeneville Astros. He's also played for the Tri-City ValleyCats of the New York-Penn League's Class A-Short Season, the Lexington Legends of the Class A South Atlantic League, the Lancaster JetHawks of the California League's Class A-Advanced, and the Corpus Christi Hooks of the Texas League's Class AA. Astros gave him his debut against WSN on July 20, 2011, and he has remained with them since. He has been productive in his career and has received numerous awards and recognitions over the years.
