Jules Koundé was born in Paris, France, on November 12th, 1998, and currently plays defence for FC Barcelona and France. The Parisian left his city as a two-year-old and started kicking the ball around when he was just 6 with the Fraternelle de Landiras, and would later develop at Cérons, La Brède and Bordeaux. The 20-year-old made his made his Ligue 1 debut in 2018 for Les Girondins and quickly established himself as the club's first choice centre-back. What he lacked in size, he made up with mobility, guile, anticipation and possession on the ball. In 2019 Sevilla paid €25 million for Jules' signature and the kid was on a plane to Spain. He was a shoe-in in the first-team and helped the Andalusian club win their sixth UEFA Europa League title in his debut season. The Frenchman's stock would only rise and a bidding war ensued in the summer of 2022 between Chelsea and Barcelona for the defenders signature. Barça signed Koundé to their ranks for €50 million with his debut coming in a 4-0 victory at the Camp Nou against Real Valladolid.
