Born on June 29th, 1994, in the city of San Justo, Argentina, he joined the youth academy of Boca Juniors as early as eight years of age, and would make his debut for La Mitad Más Uno in 2010, in a match where Boca suffered a 2-0 defeat against Argentinos Juniors. Soon his talents were spotted by scouts from Europe and in the summer of 2014 the midfielder was on his way to Italy to join Serie A club AS Roma. Leo’s I Giallorossi debut came in a 2-0 win over Hellas Verona but he struggled to hold down a berth in the first team. In a bid to get more first-team football under his belt the midfielder was loaned out to fellow Serie A club Empoli during the 2015/16 season. A successful season saw him feature in 33 league fixtures to help Gli Azzurri secure a 'Top 10' finish. In 2017 he signed for Russain powerhouse Zenit Saint Petersburg, and would go on to win the Russian Premier League in his debut season. On January 29th, 2019, French club Paris Saint-Germain unveiled the Argentinian midfielder as their newest acquisition. Since then he has featured 56 times for PSG winning and won domestic silverware. Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue, and the Trophée des Champions all decorate his trophy cabinet. 2020 also saw the Argentine captain PSG to victory against Pau in a Coupe de France fixture, while also bagging his first goal for the club. PSG also made a successful run in the UEFA Champions League but finished runner-up to Bayern Munich.
