Player Bio
Gio, or Big Foot as he's affectionately called, is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Chicago White Sox. On July 14, 1994, he was born in Burbank, California. This young man went to Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City, Los Angeles. Ethan Katz was his pitching coach in high school, and he got to play alongside Jack Flaherty and Max Fried. Although Gio had committed to attend UCLA, he changed his mind after being picked by the Washington Nationals as the 16th overall player in the 2012 edition of the MLB Draft. The young man debuted as a pro for the Gulf Coast Nationals of the rookie-level Gulf Coast League before being promoted to the Auburn Doubledays of the New York–Penn League's Class A-Short Season. He'd also play for the Class A South Atlantic League's Hagerstown Suns, the Class A-Advanced Carolina League's Potomac Nationals, the Class AA Eastern League's Harrisburg Senators, and the Class AAA International League's Syracuse Chiefs. Gio's MLB debut for the Nationals came on June 28, 2016, against the NY Mets. He remained with them till December 2016, when the Washington based team traded him to the White Sox.
