Player Bio

Born in Bregbo, Ivory Coast in 1996, Max is a versatile left-winger capable of playing in both defensive and offensive roles, he currently plays for Premier League club West Ham United. Cornet trained in the academy of French club FC Metz between 2008-2012, and he made his professional debut in Championnat National during the 2012/13 campaign. Although a bit-part player, the Ivorian was part of a team which achieved back-to-back promotions in the couple of seasons that followed. The 2015 January transfer window saw the defender move to Olympique Lyonnais and by his second season at the club the utility man had established himself as Lyon’s first-choice left back. Max would go on to make over 250 appearances for Les Gones, and registered 80 goals and assists during his seven season spell at the club, a remarkable feat for any defender. In August 2021, Premier League club Burnley signed the Ivorian for a fee of €15 million. In a season marred by relegation, Cornet was a bright spark with 11 goal returns from 28 games. Max moved to West Ham United for an undisclosed fee in the following summer.
