Born in Strasbourg, France, he had a nomadic youth career ranging across a number of academies in his locality: FC Strasbourg Koenigshoffen, ASPTT Strasbourg, RC Strasbourg, Schiltigheim and AS Nancy. The Frenchman had one solitary start for AS Nancy’s reserves before swapping France for Germany. On 9 May 2017, he joined Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach. Still a teenager, Mika made his first-team debut on 19 September, as Die Fohlen beat VfB Stuttgart 2-0. Over the period of a couple of seasons, he featured in 39 matches for ‘Gladbach, and was crowned the club’s ‘Player of the Season’ in his debut season. His excellent performances in the middle of the park peaked Bayern Munich’s interest, and on 17 August 2019, the Bavarian giants paid a fee of €10 million to secure the Frenchman’s signature. The French midfielder is still in his infancy, however, he has shown great potential; the 20-year old has a ferocious drive, when it comes to shooting the ball; as well as having the imagination and vision to unlock opposition defences with laser guided passes. On the international scene, he represented France at U19 level in the 2018 UEFA European Championship. Les Bleus made the semi-final of the tournament before being knocked out by Italy. Mika went on to make the team of the tournament for his excellent performances.
