Player Bio

Born in Al Hoceima, Morocco, he grew up in Sarpsborg, Norway, where he began his youth career with the academy of local side Sarpsborg FK and later Sarpsborg 08 with whom he made his Tippeligaen debut on May 2011 against Odd Greenland, he would go on to score 15 goals in 64 appearances for the Norwegian side. On 15 March 2014 the winger signed for fellow Tippeligaen side Molde FK, in his debut season he played in all 30 league fixtures scoring 13 goals as Molde were crowned Tippeligaen champions and won the Norwegian Cup. Swiss club FC Basel would acquire the services of the midfielder on a four-year contract ahead of the 2016/17 Swiss Super League season. He made his debut in a 3-0 win over Sion on 24 July 2016, and scored his first goal for the club a week later against Vaduz. His debut season was a major success as the winger scored 10 goals in 39 games to help the RotBlau to a domestic double of the Swiss Super League and the Swiss Cup. His performances would catch the attention of Premier League club Southampton who acquired the services of the winger on a five-year-deal for a fee of £16 million pound.
