Born on November 1st, 2000, in Pontoise, France, Kokou had a nomadic youth career spanning across several clubs in his native land; he began his journey with local club Clergy Pontoise FC in 2006 before moving to Rouen in 2015; in 2016 the youngster joined L’Entente SSG, and the following year he would move to Brest; finally in 2017 he would join Ligue 1 outfit Olympique de Marseille as a promising young talent. The French defender would make over forty appearances for Marseille B-side but contract disputes with he club’s hierarchy in the summer of 2020 would see the Frenchman move away from his country and unto English soil. Kokou signed a three-year contract with Premier League club Everton sighting legendary Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti as the number 1 reason for his decision to choose Merseyside club. The left back made his professional debut for The Toffees in an EFL Cup fixture against lower league opposition Salford City which Everton duly won 3-0. The defender would feature once more in the same competition, bagging an assist in a 5-2 win over Fleetwood Town. His excellent showings led to a start in the Premier League on November 1st, 2020 against Newcastle United. On the International stage Kokou has featured for France’s under-18 and under-19 sides.
