This goalkeeper is currently playing for Club Brugge after having played for a long time for Liverpool in the English Premier League. Before joining the Liverpudlians he first played his games for Sint-Truiden in Belgium and Southampton (Premier League). He had his best period during the 2012-2013 season. He kept a huge number of clean sheets as well as provide some stunning saves to win his side Southampton points and games. After that season he made a step up and joined Liverpool. The scoucers paid a reported 10 Million Euro Fee to Southampton. During his first few seasons he was the starting goalkeeper and at his first season he almost became champions of England. He and his teammates ended up with 84 points, 2 points less than champions Man. City. The following seasons he kept playing as the starting goalkeeper. However that all changed after he started to lose his place to Lorius Karius. He kept playing fewer games and when Liverpool signed Alison Becker he knew for sure that he would be the second goalkeeper. It wasn't long before he decided he wanted to move to his native Belgium and join Brugge. The goalie is also a part of Belgiums national team. However he is not a starter in that squad either, the starting goalie for Belgium is obviously Thibaut Courtois hence Simon's nickname: Poor Mans Courtois. He was however a part of Belgium's squad for 2018 World Cup. Belgium's so called 'golden generation' played a rather dissapointing tournament and finished with a bronze medal. Simon didn't play a single minute.
