Stras, a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Washington Nationals, was born on July 20, 1988, in San Diego, California. This three-time All-Star went to West Hills High School in Santee, California. Despite struggling at baseball at first, he kept his cool and made his mark on the school team. He attended San Diego State University despite being sought by a number of institutions across the country. He was a member of the San Diego State Aztecs' baseball team, which was coached by Tony Gwynn, a baseball Hall of Famer. The Washington Nationals selected Stras as the first overall in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft on June 9, 2009. He signed a record-breaking four-year with the Nationals on August 17, 2009. Debuting for the Phoenix Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League on October 16, 2009, set him on his journey. He has played for the Harrisburg Senators of the Class AA Eastern League and the Syracuse Chiefs of the Class AAA International League before his MLB debut. This Californian made his debut for the Nationals against the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 8, 2010. He has achieved immense success with them, including becoming a World Series champion in 2019. This young man has also stayed loyal to the Nationals so far.
