Player Bio

Born in Iverness, Scotland, he began his footballing education with the academies of Dyce Boys Club, Iverness Caledonian Thistle, and Dundee United, before graduating to the later's first-team upon signing a professional contract with them in 2009. His debut for The Terrors came in November 2010 in a 1-0 win over Hamilton Academical. He was a bit part player in his first season making 11 appearances and would improve on it on his second with 23 appearances. He'd become a regular first-team player from his third season onwards, racking up over 92 appearances with 17 goals and assists a piece.  In January 2015 Dundee United turned down two advances from Scottish giants Celtic but the transfer was eventually completed in 2 February 2015, the midfielder scored on his Celtic debut in a 3-0 in over Patrick Thistle in 11 February 2015. The Scotsman's time with The Bhoys was laden with silverware and accolades, in 144 appearances he scored 28 and assisted 25 goals, winning Scottish Premiership in 2014/15 and 2015/16, and back-to-back treble of Scottish Premiership, Scottish League Cup, and Scottish Cup in the 2016/17 and 2017/18  season.  In June 2018 the midfielder transferred to Premier League club Southampton on a four-year deal for a fee of £7 million, in his debut season he made 32 appearances for The Saints scoring 4 goals and making 2 assists.
