Born in Rosario, Argentina, he began his footballing prospects as a 12-year old with the youth academy of native club San Lorezno de Almagro; after progressing through the various youth-ranks he signed his first professional contract with the club in the summer of 2012.  On 31 March 2013, the diminutive forward made his debut for San Lorenzo, coming off the bench in a 1-0 defeat to Newell’s Old Boys. Two months later, the winger netted his first professional goal in a 3-0 win over Boa Juniors. During his two-year spell with San Lorenzo, Angelito featured in 58 competitive games, finding the back of the net on 12 occasions, in addition to providing 17 assist for his teammates. His journey with San Lorenzo culminated in the club’s 2014 Copa Libertadores triumph; as the Argentinian outfit beat Paraguayan opposition Nacional in the final to claim their maiden title.  On 27 May 2014, Angelito would realize his dream of playing in Spain, when he put pen-to-paper and agreed a five-year deal with La Liga club Atlético Madrid. After an injury that kept him on the shelf for nearly a year, the Argentine would make his long awaited debut for the Los Rojiblancos on 22 August 2015 in a 1-0 win against UD Las Palmas. Shortly thereafter, he scored his first goal for Atléti, opening the scoring in a 2-0 win over SD Eibar. Angelito has played in close to 200 matches for Los Colchoneros, totalling 30 goals and 28 assists; his contributions have helped the club claim the 2017/18 UEFA Europa League and the subsequent 2018 UEFA Super Cup.
