David Luiz Moreira Marinho is a football player from Brazil and currently plays for Arsenal and the Brazilian national team. He started his career at Esporte Clube Vitória, usually known simply as Vitória. A couple of games was already enough to convince the world of his powers. He moved to Benfica and remained with the club for five seasons. In January 2011 he signed a contract in London at Chelsea, with whom he won the 2011-12 Champions League. The following season? Well, they won the Europa League! He was by then regarded as one of the best centre backs of the world, and Paris Saint-Germain bought him for a fee of 50 Million Euro. This was a world record for a defender by then! He stayed for two years in Paris, but transferred back to Chelsea in August 2016 in a 30 Million Pound transfer deal. He made his return debut on 16 September 2016 against Liverpool (2-1 defeat). He is also playing for the Brazilian national team and attended among others the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Spain and the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia with the Seleçao. He is primarly known as a centre back but can also play as a defensive midfielder. He is a very strong player and has drawn praise for his strength, work rate and his personality. He is regarded as one of the best defenders in the world! In the summer of 2019 he made the move to Arsenal to become a Gunner for the forseeable future.
