Player Bio
Yunito plays left field, shortstop, and second base for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball. He was born in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, on October 10, 1993. Just like most other Cubans, his career took off after he defected to the USA. However, he began playing the sport even before he knew that he was going to do it professionally. He liked it and was committed enough to pursue it with sincerity. This youngster began his pro career with the Sancti Spíritus in the Cuban National Series when he was just sixteen years old. In 2013, he joined the Industriales and signed with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Nippon Professional Baseball at the end of the 2014 season. The Cuban decided to go to the MLB and defected along with his brother in February 2016. He was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays in November that year as a free agent. Before making his MLB debut, he spent time with the Advanced-A Florida State League's Dunedin Blue Jays, the Double-A Eastern League's New Hampshire Fisher Cats, and the Arizona Fall League's Peoria Javelinas. Yunito's first appearance for the Toronto Blue Jays came on April 20, 2018, against the Yankees.
