He is an Italian professional footballer who joined Milan's youth academy in 2000. He made his debut for the first team in 2006. He was only aged sixteen years old! It was a game for the Coppa Italia against Brescia. And it was immediately clear that this lad had a bright future ahead of him. In 2009 he moved on loan to Padova, to make a final transfer to Palermo the season after. This happened in 2010-11, the expectations were high but after one season it didn't seem to be a happy marriage. He then moved to Torino in 2011, who played in the Serie B back then. He made his debut on the 13th of August 2011 against Lumezzane for the Coppa Italia. In four years he played 150 games for Torino, but then Manchester United showed up. They bought him for a fee of 12.7 Million Pound and he signed a four-year contract. In the years that followed he did not really manage to become an important key player of The Red Devils but he definitely was important for Manchester United. He started his career as a centre-back, even played as a defensive midfielder but currently is starring as a full-back - or sometimes even as a attacking winger. His multi functionality and his ability to play with both feet make him a popular player among managers.
