Player Bio
The Sandblaster is a St. Louis Cardinals third baseman. He was born in Newport Beach, California, on April 16, 1991. His father, Fernando, is a Cuban national, whilst his mother, Millie, is of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent and was born in Queens, New York. Nado grew up rooting for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was a member of the baseball team at El Toro High School in Lake Forest, where he played shortstop. He pledged to play collegiate baseball at Arizona State University (ASU) but signed with the Colorado Rockies after being taken in the second round of the 2009 MLB draft with the 59th overall pick. The youngster began his professional baseball career with the Casper Ghosts of the Rookie-level Pioneer League, then moved to the Class A South Atlantic League with the Asheville Tourists. Nado began focusing on and enhancing his defensive style whilst with the Modesto Nuts of the Class A-Advanced California League. Nado, who represented the Rockies in the 2011 All-Star Futures Game, also played for the Tulsa Drillers of the Class AA Texas League in 2012 and the Colorado Springs Sky Sox of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League (PCL) in 2013. He was promoted to the major league later that year and played for the Rockies until the end of the 2020 season before being sold to the St. Louis Cardinals in February 2021. This nine-time Gold Glove Award winner has been with them since.
