Philippe Sandler was born in Amsterdam on the 10th of February 1997. He is a defender and prefers to play at the centre back position. The Dutch defender played in the youth of the legendary Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam, but never made it to the first team. He made his debut at the highest level somewhere else, namely in the jersey of the Dutch club PEC Zwolle. In the summer of 2016 he signed a contract of three years at PEC Zwolle, and played his first game for them against Sparta Rotterdam on August 13, 2016. They lost with 0-3. Almost everybody was surprised when he signed a contract in January 2018 with one of the best clubs in the world, Manchester City. A unusual transfer for a player of PEC Zwolle. But.. it really happened! Pep Guardiola has a new philosophy in which he wants to work with more young talents. And apparently the Dutch defender fits perfect in this philosophy! When he moved to Manchester City he said proudly in a Dutch newspaper that “the staff of Manchester City knew everybody about me” and he mentioned that it was a dream for him to work together with the best coach of the world, Pep Guardiola. Manchester City paid a transfer fee between 2.5 and 3 Million Euro for the Dutch player. In the summer of 2019 he went on loan to Anderlecht to join his friend ánd idol VIncent Kompany.
