Player Bio

Born on July 5th, 1994, in Emmerich am Rhein, Germany, Robbie’s youth career spanned over the academies of four different clubs including: Fortuna Elten, 1. FC Bocholt, VfL Rhede, and finally Dutch club SBV Vitesse. In 2014 he signed his first professional contract with Vitesse but never appeared for the first-team. Between 2014-2017 the defender was loaned out to fellow Eredivisie outfits Dordrecht and Heracles Almelo. These were his formative years and Robbie gained valuable experience playing regular first-team football. In the summer of 2017 he made the switch to Italy to sign for Bergamo based club Atalanta. Under the stewardship of visionary coach Gian Piero Gasperini the robust German established himself as one of the finest full-backs in Europe. Il Motore's tireless running and ability to attack as well as defend made him an inductee in the 2019/20 Serie A ‘Team of the Year’ as Atlanta finished third in their domestic league to secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
