Player Bio
Press is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros. He was born in Dallas, Texas, on December 15, 1988. Initially, the young man attended American Heritage Academy in Carrollton, Texas, before moving to Edward S. Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas, for his final year. Although he wanted to go to Texas Tech to play college baseball for the Red Raiders, he changed his mind after being drafted by the Red Sox. The Boston based team selected him as the 354th overall in Round 11 of the 2007 edition of the MLB Draft. Whilst there isn't much information about his early days with the BRS's affiliates, we do know that he played as a relief pitcher for the Portland Sea Dogs of the Class AA Eastern League before transferring to the Twins. The Minnesota based team gave the man with the Most Consecutive Scoreless Appearances his debut in MLB on April 4, 2013. This two-time All-Star has also pitched for the Rochester Red Wings whilst with them. Press was traded to the Houston Astros on July 27, 2018. This Texan has remained with them since.
