His style of play means that he is more suited for an elegant league like La Liga than the more physical Premier League in England. The player has confirmed this by expressing his lofty desire to play for either Barcelona or Real Madrid one day. Holding dual nationalities as a sportsperson always puts you in a dilemma. He holds both Dutch and American citizenship and has pledged his international future to the American Men's Association Football team. He has also played for USA's youth teams in the U-17 and U-20 levels.
