Anne Prince didn’t know who Wil Wheaton was. She had never seen Star Trek and was toiling hard to provide for her family. So, when she showed up at a friend’s party, she didn’t recognise Wil at all. This behaviour of hers persuaded Wil to get more inquisitive. He quickly learned that she was considerably older than him. However, he was in too deep now to back off. But he wouldn’t have asked her out had their friend not introduced the two of them to each other. Finally, when he did, Anne said yes, rather reluctantly.
