It’s about time we did a piece on her life. So, continue reading and enjoy what we have to say about this lovely lady.
Biography of an actress turned director
Born on February 24, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, as Karen Lemmons to Milton Francis Lemmons and Dorothy Othello, this filmmaker aspired to become an actor at a young age. Her dad was a biology teacher, whilst her mum used to be a counsellor but became a psychologist later on. Kasi’s parents divorced when she was just eight, and the woman moved with her mum to Newton, Massachusetts. The director attended the Commonwealth School in the Back Bay neighbourhood of Boston, Massachusetts. During her summers, the woman went to the New York University’s School of Drama’s Circle in the Square Program to train as an actor. She knew that she had an artistic side to her and felt that she had to become an actress to express herself.
The evolution of Kasi Lemmon’s career
Kasi had a great start to her acting career, and by the time she was 30, the woman had already starred in an epic film (The Silence of the Lambs). This is the kind of start that people just dreamt of back in the day. However, she felt there was always something missing in her life. This was when she decided that she’d get back behind the camera and become a filmmaker instead. Kasi figured out that she had more freedom to express herself as a director and a writer. Her debut film, Eve’s Bayou released in 1997, and it proved to everyone that she was a top director. This woman considers herself to be an artist, and she figured out that the best way to express herself is via storytelling. We cannot argue with that logic, can we?
Kasi Lemmons and Vondie Curtis-Hall’s relationship
Kasi and Vondie met whilst he was during his Broadway years. The couple met in New York and realised that they could have a lot more fun if the two of them got together. Vondie and Kasi’s interests aligned perfectly, and they decided to get hitched. In 1995, the two of them married and became a couple. It truly is fascinating to know that despite the fact that it’s almost thirty years now, the two of them are still together. Kasi and Vondie also have four children, and one of them, Henry Hunter Hall, has already established himself as an actor.
